Back to School letter from Principal Klugman, Aug. 2

Dear Student and Parents,

Although the summer is still in full swing, we have been busy here at BCMS preparing for our opening on Thursday, September 7th!

Some important information and updates:

  • Guided tours for 6th graders will occur on Thursday, August 31st. The times are
    • 9:00 am, 10:00 am, 11:00 am
    • You do not have to call ahead and please meet in the Upper Gymnasium just inside the front entrance of the building. If this changes, we will announce our new plan via Aspen so we ask all parents to please make sure that your email is correctly listed in your parent portal.
  • “Walk your Schedule” – Self-Guided Tour
    • All students’ schedules will be up on ASPEN as of Friday, August 25th at 4:00 PM.
    • All students are invited to visit the building on the dates and times listed below if they would like to walk their schedule. Please note that classrooms will not be open at these times. Please also note that our building summer hours are in place and that the building closes at 4:00 PM daily.
      • Monday, August 28th (8:00 AM to 4:00 PM)
      • Tuesday, August 29th (8:00 to 4:00 PM)
      • Wednesday, August 30th (8:00 to 4:00 PM)
      • Thursday, August 31st (8:00 to 4:00 PM)
      • Friday, September 1st (8:00 to 4:00 PM)
      • Tuesday, September 5th (3:30-8:00 PM)
      • Wednesday, September 6th (3:30-8:00 PM)
  • Please visit our website for more important information like the following:

Your school schedule and transportation information will be posted on Aspen as will all your interim and quarterly grades. If you need help getting registered, please call our Main Office at 439-7460.

1st Day of School – Thursday, September 7th

  • Students not taking the bus should plan to arrive by 7:50 AM
  • It’s a full day of school with dismissal at 2:46 PM
  • All students should bring two combination locks for their locker and their PE locker
  • You can expect our buses to be a few minutes late in the afternoon due to our deliberately helping students find the correct routes


If we have urgent alerts one of our first and most proactive ways to push information to you is through our School News Notifier (SNN). To sign up for Middle School specific SNN notifications look for the link on our homepage. We remind parents with students transitioning to the middle school that you will need to update your SNN settings to receive Middle School specific SNNs.
