Bethlehem Central Middle School students got a wonderful surprise today courtesy of five Patroon 1 students. That’s because sixth graders Alex Schalk, Mirella Albrecht, Isabella Chirkis, Niccola Alas, and Madeline Duffy did something pretty special for their school for Valentine’s Day. With the help of Mrs. Neri, Ms. Marcucci, Ms. Oullette and Ms. Weiss (and with the permission of Mr. Doemel), they decorated the entire school with a Valentine’s Day message on every locker. That’s more than 1,000 heart-shaped messages!

The group worked after school to help craft the messages and to decorate the hallways with their Valentines. Their mission: to send positive messages throughout the school on a day when some students might be feeling left out.

Among the messages:

  • “I believe in you.”
  • “Life doesn’t have to be perfect to be wonderful.”
  • “There are so many reasons to be happy.”
  • “Find joy in the ordinary.”

Great job, Alex, Mirella, Isabella, Niccola and Madeline!
