Slingerlands to celebrate 75th birthday on Sept. 25

SLI-bday-75Slingerlands Elementary School is turning 75 and you are invited to help celebrate! The school will host a Birthday Picnic on Sunday, September 25, 2016 from 12 noon to 3 p.m. at the school. 

The school will welcome former and current students and staff, families and neighbors for a casual outdoor celebration. There will be school tours and informal reunions, student performances, artwork and historical photos, food vendors, games for children, and lots of fun and surprises. And there will be cake!

  • Tickets can be purchased for games and Bounce House.
  • Food and snacks available for purchase.
  • Please, no pets!

Important parking information


Slingerlands Elementary School will be celebrating 75 years with a Birthday Picnic at the school on Sunday, September 25 from 12 noon until 3 p.m.

The Bethlehem Police Department will be assisting with traffic and parking during the event. There will be NO parking allowed along Union Ave. from Kenwood Ave. to Orchard Ave. There will be one-side of the street parking allowed on several side streets. In addition, there will be no parking in the fire lane at Slingerlands.

The BEST parking option will be to park at the high school. A shuttle will run continuously from the high school to Slingerlands Elementary School from 11:45 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. the day of the event.

Other parking options that will be available the day of the event will be in the parking lots of the following businesses:

  • Mangia Restaurant – 1562 New Scotland Rd
  • State Farm Insurance  – 848 Kenwood Ave                              
  • Family Dental Practice – 840 Kenwood Ave
  • IPD Engineering Inc – 834 Kenwood Ave
  • New Village Deli – 1526 New Scotland Rd.
  • Rail trail lot
