Slingerlands Musical, “Wish Upon a Star”
On March 7, 8 and 9, the entire fifth grade class at Slingerlands presented “Wish Upon a Star.” This production featured popular Disney classics such as Friend Like Me and A Whole New World from “Aladdin,” Hukuna Matata from “The Lion King,” I’m Almost There from “Princess and the Frog,” and of course, the classic When You Wish Upon a Star from “Pinocchio.” “Wish Upon a Star” was written and directed by Slingerlands teacher, Mr. Lestor Betor.
The fifth graders performed for their classmates in an in-school performance on Wednesday, March 7 and conducted two night shows on Thursday, March 8 and Friday, March 8. The students worked very hard on a wide array of songs, created elaborate sets and donned festive costumes.
The story of “Wish Upon a Star” catapulted its audiences to Fairyland where Clara and her new best friend, Tinkerbell rallied the troops to clear Tinkerbell’s name and solve the mysterious disappearance of Disney’s 24k gold Celebration Mickey sculpture.
