Filed in BCHS, District, District News by on August 9, 2019

Stage 700 is thrilled to announce that the featured musical production for April 2020 will be Chicago (High School Edition). Due to the continuing BCHS auditorium renovation, Chicago is scheduled for three performances April 3-4, 2020 at The Hart Theatre, the largest venue inside The Egg in downtown Albany.

Chicago is an American musical with music by John Kander, Lyrics by Fred Ebb, and book by Ebb and Bob Fosse. The show is based on actual crimes of 1920s-era Chicago and is a satire on corruption and the advantages of fame. It tells the story of two rival vaudevillian murderesses locked up in the Cook County Jail. The women compete for publicity, celebrity, and hopefully acquittal.

The original production (1975) showcased Fosse’s unique choreographic style and was later revived in 1996. The acclaimed production is currently the longest-running musical revival and longest-running American musical in Broadway history.

Auditions for Chicago will be held at the beginning of January 2020. Please continue to check our website for future details.
