Stage 700 at Bethlehem Central High School will present the musical Chicago: High School Edition with three performances Friday, April 3rd @ 7 p.m. and Saturday, April 4th @ 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. All performances will take place at the Hart Theatre at the Egg. Chicago is an American musical with music by John Kander, Lyrics by Fred Ebb, and book by Ebb and Bob Fosse. The show is based on actual crimes of 1920s-era Chicago and is a satire on corruption and the advantages of fame. It tells the story of two rival vaudevillian murderesses locked up in the Cook County Jail. The women compete for publicity, celebrity, and hopefully acquittal.

The original production (1975) showcased Fosse’s unique choreographic style and was later revived in 1996. The acclaimed production is currently the longest-running musical revival and longest-running American musical in Broadway history.
