Voters approve 2019-20 BC budget

Voters in the Bethlehem Central School District have approved a $100.8 million budget for the 2019-20 school year by a margin of 2,010 to 518, or approximately 80 percent in favor to 20 percent opposed.

In addition, a bus purchase proposition, totaling approximately $1.1 million, passed by a vote of 1,829 to 615 or 75 percent in favor to 25 percent opposed. Voters also approved a 2019 Capital Reserve Fund by a margin of 2,025 to 460 (81 percent approval).

Voters elected two members to the Board of Education from a slate of three candidates. They are: Jonathan S. Fishbein and Wendy Samson. Ballot totals can be found below:

  1. Wendy Samson – 1,505 votes**
  2. Jonathan S. Fishbein – 1,323 votes**
  3. Brendan M. McCann – 1,267 votes

** The two elected members of the Board will serve three-year terms beginning July 1, 2019.

“We truly appreciate the support our district receives from this community,” said Superintendent Jody Monroe. “This budget will allow us to continue delivering quality education to students and fulfill our mission of helping each and every student reach their potential.”
