Welcoming New Faces to Glenmont Elementary

The start of the school year is just around the corner! We are excited to welcome a number of new faces to our school community. All of these individuals bring with them a great deal of talent, experience, and enthusiasm that will benefit our students and school community.  Help us welcome them!

Ashley Bucklin – Fifth Grade Teacher

A woman smilesAs a BC grad, I am excited to be back in the district starting my teaching career at Glenmont!

Favorite hobbies/activities: I enjoy skiing and snowboarding, taking local day trips and reading.
Favorite color: Red
Favorite food: Pasta
Favorite kids book: Esperanza Rising
One interesting fact about Ms. Bucklin: In college, I was a coxswain for the men’s and women’s rowing teams.

 

Sheila Jones – School Nurse

A woman smilingI am very excited to join the Glenmont Elementary community!

Family members:  My husband Michael and I have three amazing children: Michael Scott 22, Andrew 20, and Mackenzie 17. We also have two dogs (Tiger and Justice) and two turtles (Hudson and Durlong).
Favorite hobbies/activities:  I have been a resident of the town of Bethlehem my entire life. I have always tried to give back to my community by volunteering with the Boy Scouts, Tomboys, Ravena Pop Warner football and the Greater Ravena Area Lions Club.  In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my family & friends on our boat cruising the scenic Hudson River or having a game night.

 

Joanna Perrino – Third Grade Teacher

A woman smilingI previously taught in Boston and New York City and moved to the area in 2011. After taking a break from teaching to raise my two young children, I was thrilled to join the Glenmont School community last year as a fourth grade teacher. I am looking forward to my new role as a third grade teacher.

Favorite hobbies/activities: Being outdoors, traveling, cooking/baking, running, reading

 An interesting fact about Mrs. Perrino: I once kayaked 17 miles along the Na Pali coast of Hawaii.

 

Cristine Reynolds – Clerical Assistant

A woman smilingI am excited to be joining the Glenmont Community as I transition from my previous role as a support staff substitute.

Family members and pets: Married to Rob and we have two children Ryan (15) and Katie (12). We love our little dog Hooper.
Favorite hobbies/activities: I love to scrapbook and attend Zumba classes.
Favorite color: Pink
Favorite food: Sushi
Favorite kids book: Wonder
One interesting fact about Mrs. Reynolds: I was a Registered Dietitian before I had my children.

 

Julian Santos – School Psychologist

After working at South Colonie and Mechanicville School Districts, I look forward to joining the Glenmont School Team

Family members: I’m married to my amazing wife Laura, and our one child, Sofia, was just born in late July.  Pets are on the way!
Favorite hobbies/activities: Reading, hiking, playing guitar, watching movies, and board games
Favorite color: Forest green
Favorite food: Tacos
Favorite kids book: The Harry Potter Series
One interesting fact about Mr. Santos: I’ve hiked to the top of the tallest waterfall in North America, Yosemite Falls, which is in Yosemite National Park!

 

      Megan Walston – Occupational Therapist

      I have been working for 17 years as a private pediatric occupational therapist within Rensselaer and Albany Counties. I have enjoyed collaborating with many different school districts throughout the counties.  I am very excited to now be working solely at BC.

      Favorite hobbies/activities: I enjoy an active lifestyle with my family. I like to run, bike, swim and hike. There is just something about being outside and being active. I also love the beach.
      Favorite food: Definitely pizza.

      One interesting fact about Mrs. Walston: I have three children who attend Bethlehem School District. My son is at the high school, my
      daughter is at the middle school and my younger daughter is at Elsmere.  

       

      David Wargula – Third Grade Teacher

      I am moving from a small college town called Alfred in western NY.  I taught there for the last 4 years and also taught for 2 years in Maryland.  

      Family members:  My wife Kate, and my two daughters are Nora (age 4) and June (age 2).
      Favorite hobbies/activities: reading, hiking, camping, canoeing and running.
      Favorite color: Green
      Favorite food: pizza
      Favorite kids book: The Tale of Despereaux by Kate DiCamillo
      One interesting fact about Mr. Wargula: I have travelled in 10 different countries around the world.

       

      Jessica Winn – Fifth Grade Teacher

      For the past 2 years, I have been teaching 4th Grade at Slingerlands Elementary. Prior to that, I have taught grades 2, 3 and 4 in the Coxsackie-Athens and Guilderland School Districts. I am excited to start a new adventure in a new grade at Glenmont!

      Ms. Winn’s Pets: I have a very spoiled 2-year-old Boxer named Romeo.
      Favorite hobbies/activities: My favorite activities are spending time with my family, kayaking, hiking and relaxing by the pool with a good book :)
      Favorite color: Blue
      Favorite food: This is a tough one, but probably something sweet and involving dark chocolate. I have a big sweet tooth!
      Favorite kids book: I have many favorites for many different reasons, but the book that I have the strongest positive memory from my
        childhood is The Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing series. I loved listening to my teacher bring the book to life with her different voices!
