On Wednesday, June 11, Slingerlands Elementary welcomed back members of the BCHS Class of 2025 for their Senior Assembly, a cherished Bethlehem tradition.
Led by their former fifth-grade teachers, the seniors made their way through the familiar halls of Slingerlands, lined with cheering students holding handmade signs that read Slingerlands Loves You and Bethlehem Forever. Setting a nostalgic tone for the afternoon, they entered the gymnasium, filled with their families and current Slingerlands students, to the voice of Kermit the Frog singing “Rainbow Connection.”
Principal Andrew Baker opened the event with welcoming remarks, followed by a special message from Board of Education member Lauren Grasso, who offered comments to honor the seniors’ return and celebrate their growth and accomplishments. Music teacher Sarah Platek played piano and led the soon-to-be graduates in a fun sing-along, a throwback to their elementary school days.
Senior Ellen McCaffrey, wearing the same rainbow unicorn horn she wore on her first day of kindergarten at Slingerlands delivered the keynote speech. McCaffrey shared an inspiring message emphasizing the value of “always being yourself”.
The visit was a full-circle moment for the Class of 2025, reconnecting them with their earliest school memories as they prepare to graduate.
Thank you to the entire Slingerlands community for making this a meaningful and memorable day! Congratulations and good luck to the Class of 2025!
