Application Instructions
Please submit your application, resume and cover letter (include professional aspirations and philosophy of education plus special experience, training and interests) through the Online Applications System (OLAS) website as a general applicant or for a specific job posting, unless otherwise noted.
Please do not send any supporting materials (certification, credential file, references, etc.) to the district unless you are contacted by the district about a specific position.

Substitute Bus Drivers and Bus Attendants
There are currently openings for Substitute Bus Drivers and Bus Attendants. The rate is $23.84/hour for substitute drivers and $14.20/hour for substitute attendants. Applications are accepted on an ongoing basis and may be requested by emailing Todd Wojtal at twojtal@bethlehemschools.org or by calling (518) 439-3830 and dialing option 2.

Substitute Employment
Substitute Teaching/Tutoring at Bethlehem Central
Individuals interested in substituting in the district should register with the district using the Capital Region BOCES Substitute Service, which can be contacted through their website or at (518) 464-5127. Substitute teachers earn $135 per day ($210 for teachers who are retired from BC) and $263.28 per day after 30 consecutive days. New York State Teacher certification is not required for substitute teachers, but if you are not certified, you will be limited to a maximum of 40 days of substituting per school year.
Substitute Nursing at Bethlehem Central
Individuals interested in substituting in the district should register with the district using the Capital Region BOCES Substitute Service, which can be contacted through their Web site or at (518) 464-5127. Substitute nurses earn $24/hour, or $180/day ($28/hour, or $210/day for nurses who are retired from BC). Current NYS registered nurse certification and proof of current CPR certification is required.
Substitute Support Staff Opportunities
Applications for support staff substitutes (teacher aides, clerical staff, custodians, food service helper, school monitor, bus drivers etc.) are accepted on an ongoing basis. Those interested in applying for a position as substitute bus driver or as a substitute bus attendant should call (518) 439-3830.
Most positions – including food service helpers, clerical workers, aides and monitors, custodial workers- are $14.20/hour. (Aides and monitors who have retired from BCSD can earn $21.00/hour).
The substitute driver rate is $23.84/hour (drivers who have retired from BCSD earn $30/hour). The substitute bus attendant rate is $14.20/hour (attendants who have retired from BCSD earn $21.00/hour.) Please check for current pay rates when you apply. Non-Discrimination Policy Statement
