Voters approve BC Capital Project

Voters in the Bethlehem Central School District have approved a $60.0 million capital project that will modernize more than 50 classrooms, add air conditioning in known hot spots districtwide, and make infrastructure and safety improvements at all seven schools.

The referendum passed by a margin of 80 percent (1,450 votes) to 20 percent (352 votes). The results were announced after polls closed at 9 p.m. on Tuesday, and included all in-person, absentee and early mail ballots cast.

  • No – 352 votes, or 20%

“We are extremely grateful for the community’s support of this investment in our schools,” said Superintendent Jody Monroe. “Maintaining, modernizing and improving our facilities is essential to our mission. Classroom comfort, welcoming spaces and sound structures will serve generations of BC students.”
