Boys Ultimate Frisbee

The BC Boys Ultimate Frisbee Team was recognized after finishing second in New York State, earning the highest finish for a Capital Region boys team. The Ultimate Eagles advanced to the championship game with victories over Brighton High School, Bronx Science and The Beacon School before finishing as state runners-up to Brooklyn Technical High School on May 24.
Team Captain Ezra Cotton, a six-year member of the program and a three-year captain, thanked the Board of Education for its support and spoke about the values that define the team: focus, intensity, kindness and togetherness.
Team Coach Thomas Nicholas also addressed the board, highlighting the program’s growth, noting that Ultimate Frisbee is unique in that it is self-officiated, requiring players to take responsibility for their own actions on the field. Nicholas thanked the district’s Operations and Maintenance Department and the Albany Ultimate Disc Association for their support in hosting the New York State Ultimate Championships for the seventh time. This year’s tournament brought together more than 20 teams from across New York State.

Unified Basketball

The BC Unified Basketball team was Section II Unified Basketball Champions. The team secured their Section II title with a thrilling 30-29 victory over Amsterdam at the Section II Unified Basketball Championships at the MVP Arena in May.

Members of the BC Unified Basketball team were recognized alongside advisor Sean Mooney. Mooney highlighted the growth of Bethlehem’s Unified Sports program, noting that participation increased significantly across all three Unified sports during the 2025-26 school year. He also shared that students coach the teams and introduced Unified Basketball student coach Nick Robbins to speak about the season.

Robbins, who recently completed his second year with the program, described the season as a special one. He noted that this year’s team was the largest in the program’s history and highlighted two assembly games, one held at Guilderland and one at home. He also spoke about the spirit week leading up to the home game and the team breakfast held the morning of the event.
Robbins reflected on the team’s appearance at the MVP Arena, where Bethlehem earned a two-point overtime victory after a “clutch” tie-breaking three-pointer by Landon Perry with seconds to spare. He said the positive atmosphere surrounding the team and the enthusiasm shown by students throughout the season made it a memorable year for everyone involved.
