Bethlehem Central School District is pleased to welcome Dave Ksanznak back as interim K-12 supervisor of physical education, health and athletics. The Board of Education appointed Ksanznak to the position at its Oct. 21 meeting.

In his new role, Ksanznak will work with the district’s K-12 physical education and health staff and help oversee the modified athletics program.

Ksanznak returns to Bethlehem after serving as principal of Hamagrael Elementary School from 2005 until his retirement in 2021. Since retiring, he has held several interim administrative positions in neighboring school districts, including serving as athletic director and physical education and health supervisor at Schalmont Central School District.

Ksanznak began his career in education in 1986 and joined Bethlehem as a teacher at Glenmont Elementary School in 1990. His multi decade career includes serving as principal of Clarksville Elementary School, Bethlehem Central Middle School and Edward J. Arthur Elementary School in the Coxsackie-Athens Central School District. He also coached varsity girls soccer at Bethlehem and served as assistant varsity soccer coach at Skidmore College.

“Athletics have been something I have been involved in my entire life and it will be nice to be involved in collaborating with the coaches in helping provide positive experiences for our modified student-athletes,” said Ksanznak.

Dave Ksanznak attended George Mason University, where he played varsity soccer, earned his education degree from The College of New Jersey and holds graduate degrees in reading and educational administration from the University at Albany.

Ksanznak said that he is excited to return to the district and community that have played such an important role in his life, both professionally and personally.

“I look forward to being in the buildings daily, connecting with students and staff,” said Ksanznak. “It is energizing being a part of a school community, as each day is different.  I have a lot of respect for our staff and want to support them in any way I can to help them continue to excel in their field of work.”

Ksanznak and his wife, Colleen, have lived in Bethlehem since 1990, and their children are all BC graduates. The couple welcomed a grandson, Miles, in May. Outside of school, Ksanznak enjoys sports, cooking, attending concerts and traveling to spend time with family.
