A library media specialist at Slingerlands Elementary School, Amanda Ingalls, has been placed on administrative leave in connection with her arrest in Dutchess County on a charge of grand larceny in the second degree. Ingalls was arraigned in the town of LaGrange on Wednesday, May 13, 2026.
The criminal charge is related to the disappearance of student activity funds set up by her former employer, the Wappingers Central School District.
There have been no allegations of wrongdoing during Ingalls’s employment in the Bethlehem Central School District. Ingalls has been employed in the district, at Slingerlands Elementary School only, for less than a year.
Ingalls will be replaced by a substitute teacher while on administrative leave. Slingerlands Elementary School families have been notified separately.
