Attention 7th Grade Parents: A note regarding accelerated 8th Grade Art and Technology Class Offerings

Dear Parent or Guardian of current 7th grade students, 

The Bethlehem Central Middle School has accelerated 8th-grade class offerings in Art and Technology. The art department offers Studio in Art. The technology department offers Introduction to Engineering, this is a Project Lead The Way (PLTW) class. Both Courses fulfill students one credit in the Fine Arts for High School graduation. Both courses are fundamental for the higher level art and technology classes offered at the High School.  Students are expected to be highly motivated and plan to continue their study of Art or Technology in Bethlehem Central High School.

Studio in Art is designed to provide students with comprehensive experiences in a variety of media as they study and apply the elements and principles of art and design.  The goal of both courses is to offer challenging opportunities for decision-making, problem solving and self-expression.  Students participating in this class will:
 
1. Demonstrate a strong work ethic
2. Demonstrate a high level of creativity
3. Demonstrate control of artistic materials 
4. Demonstrate a high level of interest in the appreciation of art
The application deadline is March 3, 2023. Students must have the application completely submitted by this date to be eligible for the accelerated coursework. 
Introduction to Engineering Design is designed to provide students with multiple project-based experiences within the design process. Students will follow the high school IED curriculum and will have the opportunity to earn college credit from RIT based on their achievement in the class and on the PLTW IED final exam.  
The application deadline is March 3, 2023. Students must have the application completely submitted by this date to be eligible for the accelerated coursework.
