The Bethlehem Central Board of Education is comprised of seven members who serve three-year terms. Members are elected by the voters in the district to establish policy and direct the administration of our schools. As your representatives, the Board exercises the community’s rights make decisions about public education. Every Board of Education in the state of New York has legal and financial control over local school matters, subject only to limitations imposed by the United States Constitution, federal law, state law, regulations of the Commissioner of Education and, of course, the will of local residents as expressed in local elections.

Holly Dellenbaugh, President

Holly M. Dellenbaugh was first elected to the Board of Education in 2017.  She and her spouse, Samuel, have lived in the district since 2007 and have three children, a seventh grader, a tenth grader, and a BCHS 2022 graduate. Currently self-employed, Holly has more than 19 years of legal experience representing clients in the public and private sector in matters involving constitutional, products liability, administrative, and public health law. Holly earned a B.A. in History from Yale University and a J.D. from Fordham Law School.


Willow Baer

Willow Baer was elected to the Board of Education in 2018. She has lived in Delmar since 2014 with her wife, Amy, and two children, Maddox and Sam, who currently attend Glenmont Elementary and expect to be members of the BCHS class of 2030! Baer is currently the general counsel for the New York State Office of Children and Family Services, having previously served as Interim Assistant Counsel to the Governor and the General Counsel for the NYS Office for People With Developmental Disabilities. In addition, she is an active community volunteer, dog mom, gardener and avid reader and hiking enthusiast. She serves on the Board’s audit committee as well as the District’s COVID response committee and is involved in the District’s diversity, equity and inclusion efforts and No Place for Hate initiatives.

Meredith Moriarty, Vice President

Meredith Moriarty was first elected to the Board of Education in 2017. She grew up in Bethlehem, attended Hamagrael Elementary and graduated from Bethlehem High School. She furthered her educational career by attending William Smith College and Albany Law School. After moving away from the area for several years, Meredith returned to Bethlehem in 2012 with her husband Eric and is a partner at the law firm of Smith Hoke, PLLC. The couple has three children who attend the high school, middle school and Elsmere Elementary School.


Katherine Nadeau

Katherine Nadeau, a Delmar resident for nearly a decade, was first elected to the Board of Education in 2021. As Catskill Mountainkeeper’s Deputy Director, she advocates for full funding for the Catskill Park and region, policies and funding to support vibrant communities, and strong water and air quality laws and regulations. As a NY Renews steering committee member and fierce advocate for climate solutions, Katherine helped enact New York’s nation-leading Climate Leadership and Community Protection Act, among other state environmental laws. Driven by a vision for equity, justice, and a world where everyone has a strong education, clean air, and healthy water, Katherine collaborates to create lasting change. When she’s not working, you’ll find her hanging out with her fantastic family, outdoors with her Girl Scout troop, or in the kitchen, baking bread.


Robert Tietjen

John Walston

John Walston was elected to the School Board in the Spring of 2022. John and his wife Megan have been Bethlehem residents for 21 years and have three children- James, Anna and Mae. James graduated in 2021 and is a student at UMASS Amherst. Anna is a Senior at the High School and Mae is in Ninth grade. John has been an active member in Bethlehem through coaching sports, volunteering in the schools and community, the Elsmere Playground Project, and is the community member of the District Wellness Committee. John graduated from Ithaca College with a degree in Therapeutic Recreation and worked for several years with adjudicated and at-risk youth in Paterson, NJ and Troy, NY. John is currently the owner of Skylands Services, Inc., a construction company in Delmar. John also is the founder of the Keep On Movement, Inc. which is a not-for-profit organization that focuses on promoting physical wellness and mental health.
