The halls of Slingerlands Elementary were filled with applause, smiles and memories on June 11 as members of the BCHS Class of 2026 returned to their former school for their Senior Assembly.

The celebration began with the Class of 2026 joining current students to sing “Rainbow Connection”, accompanied by music teacher Sarah Platek on piano, setting the tone for an event that celebrates growth, friendship and the journey from elementary school to graduation.

Principal Andrew Baker welcomed the Class of 2026 and their families before teachers Mr. Betor, Mrs. Leach, Ms. Qualtere, Mrs. Ward and Mr. Romero introduced each senior and shared their plans for the future.

This year’s senior speakers, Simon Annastas and Lil-Marie Suich, shared personal messages with current Slingerlands students, staff and families.

Suich encouraged students to always do their best, emphasizing that success is not about being perfect but about putting forth their best effort and continuing to grow from every experience.

Annastas opened his remarks by joking that one of his goals was to make his grandmother cry happy tears. He then reflected on the importance of kindness and the lasting friendships formed during elementary school, noting that many connections he made at Slingerlands have remained an important part of his life through graduation.

As the Class of 2026 prepares to graduate and begin the next chapter, the visit served as a meaningful reminder of where their journey started and the relationships and lessons that helped guide them along the way.
