General Information

Course Fees

Continuing Education course fees vary as outlined in course descriptions. Regardless of base cost, non-residents must add $10 per course. Registration and payment must be made online through MySchoolBucks.

Eligibility

Courses are open to all persons ages 21 or over, with the exception of SAT review courses. For courses accommodating a limited number of students, Bethlehem Central residents will have preference.

Registration

Starting in Spring 2026, all Continuing Education registration and payment must be completed online.

This change ensures registrations are processed in the order they are received and provides a secure payment method for all participants. The district will be using MySchoolBucks for online registration and payment. MySchoolBucks is a longtime vendor-partner of the district.

  • Paper checks and cash will not be accepted.
  • Submitting payment for a class online confirms your registration for that class.
  • If a class is full, you will not be able to register or pay for the class.
  • Non-Residents must purchase one $10 Non-Resident Pass through the online store.
  • Registration will close one week before the start date of each class.
  • Senior exemptions are available on a first-come, first-served basis for select classes ONLY. The senior exemptions will be visible at checkout.
  • No refunds will be granted after the start of the first class.

Class Times and Locations

Most Continuing Education courses meet once a week, between 6 p.m. and 9 p.m., and last up to 10 weeks. Exceptions are noted within course descriptions. Please check the schedule of classes in which you are interested.

Most classes are held at Bethlehem High School, 700 Delaware Ave. Delmar, but some classes are held in other buildings. Note class locations in course descriptions.

Refunds

Refunds will be given if withdrawal from a class occurs before the start of the first class. Refunds will not be given for missed class sessions.

Cancellations and Rescheduled Classes

The Continuing Education Office may cancel courses with fewer than 12 registrants, since those courses may not meet expenses. In addition, we reserve the right to cancel/ reschedule classes due to unforeseen situations. Classes will not be held when school is not in session. Notification of cancellations due to weather will be given via local broadcast stations and the district website. You can also sign up to have school cancellations sent to you via e-mail through the district’s ParentSquare system.

No classes will be held April 3-10, 2026. There may be other dates when a specific class does not meet. Please see course listings. In most cases, class time lost due to weather cancellations will be made up at the end of the course.

Adult Learn To Swim

This will be an introduction to swimming for non-swimmers (fearful swimmers). The course will focus on conquering your fear of the water and becoming confident in and around the water. Limit of 12 students. No senior exemptions. No class April 6, April 8.

Aqua Zumba

This class is perfect for those registrants looking to make a splash by adding low-impact and high-energy aquatic exercise to the fitness routine. Aqua Zumba®️ blends the Zumba®️ philosophy with water resistance for one pool party you shouldn’t miss! There is less impact on your joints during an Aqua Zumba®️ class so you  really can lose. Ballroom Dancing I

Keep up your dancing lessons in this Intermediate Ballroom Dance Class. This includes a review of what you learned in Ballroom I plus more in-depth lessons. Become A Rotary Exchange Student And/Or Host Family

The informational course will cover the process for high school students to study abroad as outgoing Rotary Exchange students and for families to host exchange students. You will hear from previous host families about the benefits of hosting, specifically the unique experiences they had and the lifelong friendships gained for both the family and the exchange student. We will also present on the expectations of being a host family, as an outgoing exchange student, and the family of an outgoing exchange student. Parents and students are welcome to attend. Breathing for Health and Longevity

Yoga breathing is not just for yoga students and it is not taught only in yoga classes. Join certified Breath Coach, Kim Muncil, to learn different techniques that can be used by anyone at any age to improve their health and well being. Breath work helps to strengthen and coordinate our breathing muscles and make the mind/body connection stronger. You will learn a variety of breathing techniques that work to balance the nervous system and relax and energize the body. This in turn can have a direct effect on stress level, sleep patterns, digestion, heart rate, and more.  In this workshop you will also gain an awareness of your current breathing patterns with breath tests that you can continue to use as a way of measuring your progress. Cake Decorating

Learn a variety of techniques to make beautiful and fun cupcakes, in this sweet course. During the first class, we’ll cover the basics of assembling and using a piping bag and tips. Each participant will make three spring-themed cupcakes to take home.  For the second week of class, we will dive into more advanced techniques, including flower piping and decorate flower cupcakes.  All of the techniques taught can be used on cakes, as well!  The instructor will provide all of the supplies including take home containers, and each week participants will take home the cupcakes that they decorated during the course.  Tara Connors began Bash Parties in 2013, which hosts in-home, activity-based events, including a cupcake-decorating themed party. Please bring a $25 materials fee to the first class. Limit of 15 students.

Cooking – Learn To Make Baklava

In this hands-on class, you will learn how to make Baklava from scratch, and get to take your own batch home. This dessert is very popular in the Eastern Mediterranean region. Robert Khalife grew up in Lebanon and has been making Baklava for over 30 years to the delight of his family and friends. Please bring $15 materials fee to class. Limit of 10 students. Cooking – Lebanese Cuisine

Crochet

This class will teach you the basics of crochet, as well as provide the opportunity to brush up on skills. We will learn how to read a crochet pattern and explore a variety of possible projects. Design Your Career: A Vision Board Workshop **NEW**

Knitting

Learn how to knit and purl, cast on stitches and bind them off at the end of your work. Beginners will finish a small project: dishcloth, hat, scarf, or cowl. Mastering Your DSLR Camera – Part 2

A continuation of DSLR Part 1 (offered separately), but would be suitable for anyone with requisite photography knowledge. Since all digital photographs require post-processing, we begin with a guide to edit your unprocessed photos, from start to finish, in Adobe Lightroom. This is followed by exploring advanced photography/editing techniques (panorama, HDR, etc). A class may also be held at a remote location (weather permitting) to practice. Classes will also be dedicated to studio photography to learn about traditional portrait lighting patterns- we will set up a studio and practice headshots. And much more! Limit of 25 students. Oil Painting

This painting workshop is suitable for any level. Bring your own supplies and project ideas if you like. A materials list will be handed out the first night for those new to oils. Pastel Painting

Why do the Golden Years seem more like copper? Transitioning from an environment which has provided a lot of day-to-day structure, to having none, can be daunting. A study by David Evans in 2002 found that a significant number of retirees they researched experienced boredom. Additionally, adjusting to change impacted them in unexpected ways, yet more retirement workshops focus on financial planning. This workshop will help focus on what you find important in life and help begin the goal setting process toward a successful and fulfilling retirement. Limit of 30 students. No class April 8.

Retirement is a major transition, and it’s natural to have questions. This session is about helping you simplify your financial picture and feel confident about your next steps. This course will review formulas, problems and concepts for the Mathematics portion of the SAT for students who plan to take the exam this fall. Stroke Development

This stroke development class is designed for swimmers who can swim 25 yards and are comfortable in deep water. The class will focus on building confidence and refining technique in freestyle, breaststroke, backstroke, and sidestroke. It is not intended for advanced swimmers or those seeking continuous lap swimming. Limit of 12 students. No senior exemptions. No class April 6 and April 8.

Swing Dancing For Beginners

The “One Big Beautiful Bill Act”, passed in July 2025, will reshape many of our financial lives. From new Federal tax brackets, changes to SALT (State & Local tax), mortgage interest and property tax deductions, updated child tax credits, American car purchase incentives, the list goes on. Addiction touches all of us in some way. It is common, dangerous, insidious, and difficult to navigate. Join Bob Muncil for an informational evening on this topic. Bob is a recovered alcoholic of 33 years; and he has served on the Board of Directors for the Addictions Care Center of Albany for 19 years. Currently, he offers recovery coaching and interventions for those finding their way to a clean and sober lifestyle.  Bob has vast experience in the field of addiction and understands the stigma that goes with it.  The format for this class will open with facts and information regarding addiction and recovery; and then move on to topics/questions which will be written on index cards by participants to be anonymously submitted for discussion. Watercolor Workshop II

Students with some watercolor experience or those who have taken Watercolor 1 are welcome. Through expressive interpretation of still life, landscape and figurative subjects, students will practice watercolor techniques including transparent wash, dry brush-on, wet-on-wet and resist while discovering their own artistic voice. A variety of painting styles will be explored. Students will also work on independent projects in discussion with the instructor.  No class April 6. Limit of 20 students.

Woodworking (Beginning)

Acquaint yourself with woodworking through basic instruction in the use of hand and power tools. Activities will center on students’ projects of their choice. A small fee may be required for miscellaneous supplies and students must provide all materials for their projects, including: lumber, glue, sandpaper, etc. Intermediate students are welcome. Please, no skilled craftsmen wanting to use equipment for advanced sawing or planing. No senior exemptions. Limit of 12 students. No class April 9.

This class will focus on the development of body awareness and alignment, flexibility and strength training through the practice of the physical poses of Yoga known as Asanas.
