On Monday, Feb. 16, Bethlehem Central High School junior Charleigh Eick made history for Bethlehem athletics by becoming the first girl wrestler ever to win a Section II championship title.

Eick, competing in the 185 weight class, will now head to the New York State Girls Wrestling Championships on Thursday, Feb. 26 at the MVP Arena in downtown Albany. Eick will be joined at the state tourney by teammate, senior Katie Huang, who will compete in the  152 weight class.  Huang finished second in the 152 class at sectionals.

“This season marks the third year for the girls wrestling program,” said team coach Sarah Trombadore. “We couldn’t be more proud of our team and their accomplishments.”

Best of luck to Charleigh and Katie, and congratulations to the girls wrestling team on a successful season!
