BC Esports team named #1 in nation by USA Today

The Bethlehem Central High School Eagles Esports team has been named the top Esports team in the nation by USA Today. The nationwide news publication regularly ranks the top 25 high school teams.

The rankings are compiled by PlayVS, a scholastic and collegiate esports and gaming and curriculum platform. Play VS analyzed the performance of all high schools competing on its platform in spring 2026 determine the Top 25 esports programs nationwide. Schools must actively compete in at least five (5) unique esports titles to be eligible. Schools are ranked by the average match-win percentage of their top-performing team within each esports title. In the case of tied averages, tiebreakers are determined by the average game-win percentage and overall program size.

The Bethlehem team had a winning match percentage of 93.75% and a winning game percentage of 88.71% across the five leagues it competes in.

“This is a monumental accomplishment for our team,” said team coach Navaar Johnson. “I am very proud of these students.”
