BC senior celebrated as part of CTE National Signing Day

Congratulations to BC senior Yousif Alsammarraie, who was one of 40 Capital Region high school students to take part in the Capital Region BOCES National Signing Day on Thursday, May 29. The Signing Day recognizes students for completing letters of intent to pursue a career as a professional in the skilled trades.

Alsammarraie, who studies Network Technology at the Career & Technical Education (CTE) Center – Albany Campus, signed a letter of intent to work for BBL Management Group when he completes his studies.

More than 150 business leaders, family members, and supporters were in attendance at the ceremony, including BC Superintendent Jody Monroe.

“It was an exciting event and we are very proud of Yousif’s accomplishments and those of all of our students who participate in Career and Technical Education,” said Superintendent Monroe. “One of our core values is community, and it was great to see employers who are the backbone of the community making sure these talented students can build successful careers right here in the Capital Region. Investing in them is investing in the future.”

The Capital Region BOCES Signing Day has become an annual spring event highlighting the success of community and school partnerships in fueling a successful and skilled workforce. It is part of a nationwide celebration showcasing the impact career and technical education programs have on addressing the skills gap in the United States.
