More than two dozen students in grades 6-8 participated in the annual Bethlehem Central Middle School Spelling Bee on Friday, January 16.

During the intense competition, students spelled over 200 words ranging from ‘faraway’ to ‘duplicitous,’ all while dressed in their best Pajama Day outfits.

Arnav Jakkamsetti, Ellie Lundin, and Emma Zhang finished as the Bee’s top three spellers, with Arnav eventually pulling off a victory.

Ellie Lundin was runner-up, in second place and Emma Zhang finished third.

Arnav will now be registered to participate in the Regional Qualifier Bee that will be held virtually in early February. Good luck, Arnav! BC is rooting for you!

Thank you to English Language Arts K-12 supervisor Dan Hash for organizing the annual event and the middle school ELA teachers who host classroom bees, preparing the schoolwide Bee contestants.

A special thank you to Library Media Specialist Ms. Sylvia Lilly, who served as the Bee judge and recordkeeper!
