Elsmere welcomes back the Class of 2025 for Senior Assembly

The gymnasium was buzzing with excitement as families of the Class of 2025 gathered where it all began. Current Elsmere students cheered and high-fived their predecessors as they entered the assembly.

Principal Kate Kloss opened the event with welcoming remarks, followed by a special message from Board of Education Vice President Meredith Moriarty, who offered her congratulations and encouragement to the graduating class.

The afternoon continued with laughter, hugs and reflection as each senior shared their future plans, a favorite Elsmere memory and heartfelt advice for the elementary students, including:

“These will be some of the best years of your life, enjoy it while you can.”

“Stay friends with your Elsmere friends even after you graduate.”

“Always be confident in yourself.”

“Surround yourself with positive people always.”

“Don’t take your young years for granted, because it really does fly by, just enjoy it while you can.”

A surprise highlight of the afternoon was the announcement that Elsmere’s cafeteria will be renamed in honor of a beloved staff member, Joan Deragon, who is retiring after an incredible 47 years as a Noon Aide. Joan served as a quiet force of strength, compassion and wisdom within the Elsmere community. Known for her gentle guidance and deep listening, Joan helped generations of children solve problems, feel safe and grow with confidence.

The celebration concluded with a sweet reception for the seniors and their families. A time to look back on their earliest school days and ahead to the bright and exciting futures that await.

Thank you to the entire Elsmere community for making this a meaningful and memorable day! Congratulations and good luck to the Class of 2025!
