Fill our shelves: Backpack Program needs your help
The BCHS Student Senate helps address food insecurity and food shortages through a K-12 weekend backpack food program. The program supplements food resources for students when school is not in session, focusing on weekends, holidays and school breaks. Each year, the Student Senate fills 60-100 backpacks weekly that are distributed across the district.
Last year, the Backpack Program lost its longtime generous partner, Hannaford, due to changes in the company’s sponsorship policies. The Backpack Program is seeking donations from individuals to help restock its shelves for the new school year.
Families can donate food items at Open House (see list of requested items below). A donation bin will be set up at each school’s entrance. Monetary donations are also welcome and can be coordinated through the Student Senate faculty advisor and teacher A.G. Irons. Mr. Irons can be reached via email at airons@bethlehemschools.org
