This camp is designed for athletes entering grades 5-8 this fall who have a strong interest in long-distance running/cross country. “Personal Best” is meant as a preseason build-up for modified runners preparing for their cross country season and for 5th and 6th graders who would like an introduction to the sport. Features of each session will include a dynamic warm-up, core strength training, plyometric drills, running (of course), static stretching, and fitness games. Athletes will also learn about good sportsmanship, racing strategy, proper nutritional choices, optimal footwear, and clothing. The final day of camp will include a 1 mile intrasquad race. Campers will be separated into age and ability groups, otherwise the camp is co-ed. Athletes should bring a water bottle, wristwatch, and have running shoes they don’t mind getting muddy!

The camp is lead by BC Boys Varsity Cross Country Coach, Andrew Rickert. Coach Rickert has more than fifteen years experience coaching both on the high school and college level. He is a USATF Level II certified coach. Coach Rickert will be assisted by members of his coaching staff, as well as several varsity members of the high school team who will serve as counselors/group leaders. You do NOT have to be a Bethlehem Town resident to attend.
