A K-5 Spirit Run was held on Friday, Nov. 10 at Elm Avenue Park. The event attracted nearly 400 runners for a morning of fitness and fun. For the second straight year, Glenmont Elementary School captured the Spirit Run award for the highest participation rate across all elementary schools in the district.

Fun runs were held for each grade level; a timed race was held for fourth and fifth graders as well as parents/guardians and staff members. Eagle Elementary School won the “fastest team” category by a close margin in the 4-5 race. Eddie Chromczak (Slingerlands) and Olivia Lesczinski (Glenmont) were the top male and female finishers respectively. The two top runners received trophies on behalf of the BCHS XC/TF Booster Club.

Many thanks to race coordinator and teacher/coach Andrew Rickert and members of the varsity boys cross country team who volunteered and served as team captains. Also, thank you to the BCSD Wellness Committee (led by Len Kies), race emcee Zach Tacelli, veteran coordinator John Walston, results team John and Kari Deer, along with the Albany Running Exchange and the town of Bethlehem Parks and Recreation Department.
