A Bridge to College mentors 1st Gen students

An invitation from the BCHS Bridge to College Program:

We are excited to introduce you to our Bridge to College (B2C) program at BCHS. B2C is a free mentoring program and close-knit community aimed at helping guide 1st Generation college applicants and their families through the college search and application process. In our third year, we look forward to connecting B2C students and families with mentors who can provide assistance in the following areas:

  • Personal college mentoring coaching
  • Getting started with the process
  • Naviance
  • College essay
  • Resume
  • Common Application
  • Financial Aid, FAFSA, and Scholarships
  • College visits
  • Developing a college list
  • Teacher and counselor recommendations
  • SAT prep

B2C defines “1st Gen” as a student who will be the first member of their immediate family to attend a 4-year college in the United States. That definition could also apply to students who have an older sibling who has already gone through the college application process.

We are now accepting applications from our Junior class (Class of 2022). Space is limited in our 2022 cohort; we are looking to accept 10-15 students. If you are a 1st Generation student and would like assistance in the areas listed above, please take a moment to fill out the attached application. The deadline for submitting an application is Friday, February 5, 2021.

More information about Bridge to College can be found here. We encourage juniors to apply and also encourage families who may be eligible in the years ahead to learn more about B2C.

We look forward to hearing from you soon!

The Bridge to College (B2C) coordinators,

Mr. Carlton (School Counselor)

Dr. Carr (School Counselor)

Ms. Conway (Assistant Principal)
